Your Contributions Make a DifferenceAt Freshefied, every penny we receive is reinvested directly into our mission of empowering Black students in Scotland. As a Community Interest Company (CIC), our directors and stakeholders receive no payouts or personal financial benefits and all funds are dedicated to community-focused initiatives. Here's how your support is used: Programme Development: We allocate funds to initiatives such as our Afrospin classes, workshops, and other events tailored for Black Heritage students. These programmes foster a sense of belonging and provide critical support. Direct Student Support: Funds are used to provide essential resources, including food pantry supplies and academic materials, ensuring students have what they need to thrive. Operational Costs: While we keep administrative expenses minimal, necessary costs such as venue rentals, equipment maintenance, and basic utilities are covered to ensure our initiatives run smoothly. Community Outreach: We use a portion of our budget to raise awareness and connect with more students through targeted campaigns and partnerships. We are proud to share that our work is supported entirely through public funding from grants and company revenue. We do not currently receive donations.
-
Transparency CommitmentWe publish an Annual Impact and Financial Report detailing our expenditures and the outcomes of our initiatives. These reports are available to all stakeholders, reflecting our dedication to accountability and efficiency. Annual Reports: We also prepare and share an annual report, as required by UK CIC regulations, summarising our: Financial performance (income, expenditures, and reserves). Achievements and outcomes related to our community initiatives. Future plans and areas for growth. Open Book Policy: We maintain an open book policy, allowing stakeholders and the general public to request information about our finances and programme activities. Governance: Freshefied is governed by a Board of Directors, Mentors and Trustees who ensure that every decision aligns with our mission and also complies with CIC regulations. These individuals receive no financial compensation, emphasising our commitment to reinvesting all resources back into the community.

Sustainability in ActionWe believe in building a model that is not only impactful today but sustainable for years to come. Here are some steps we’ve taken to ensure sustainability: Efficient Resource Allocation: We maximise the impact of every penny received by streamlining operations and minimising waste. For example, we use shared community spaces and leverage digital platforms to reduce costs. Volunteer Engagement: By relying on a team of dedicated volunteers, we minimise staffing costs while fostering community involvement and ownership. Partnership Development: We collaborate with like-minded organisations and institutions to share resources, reduce duplication of efforts, and amplify our reach. Grant Utilisation: Our reliance on public funding through grants ensures that we maintain financial stability while adhering to strict accountability measures. Eco-Friendly Practices: We actively seek environmentally conscious solutions, such as using recycled materials for events and minimising paper usage.
